Privacy policy
Effective October 9, 2026. This policy describes Link Scanner version 1.1.0.
What the extension does
Link Scanner downloads sitemaps and HTML pages from websites you choose, searches for your selected link or text check, and compares saved audits to help you review website fixes.
Information processed and stored
The extension processes the sitemap URLs, page URLs, downloaded HTML, and search settings needed for your audit. It saves audit settings, timestamps, page check statuses, matching URLs or text, short evidence snippets, element locations, proposed URLs, and comparison baselines in your browser's local IndexedDB. The most recent sitemap address is also stored locally. HTML is inspected in memory; full downloaded pages are not saved as audit records.
Audit findings can contain private website content if you choose to scan a site you are signed into. The browser may include existing cookies in requests to that website, according to its cookie and permission rules. Link Scanner does not directly read or export browser cookies, passwords, browser history, or unrelated tabs.
Network access and sharing
Site access is requested when you start or resume a scan or retry failed pages. The extension contacts the selected sitemap and permitted page domains to download their content. Requests reveal your network address and normal browser request information to those websites. Their own privacy policies govern their handling of those requests. HTTPS uses encrypted transport; a user-entered HTTP site uses HTTP.
The extension has no developer-operated backend, account system, analytics, advertising, or cloud synchronization. Audit data is not sent to the developer or sold to third parties. Fonts, icons, scripts, and styles are included in the extension.
Export results saves a CSV file where you choose. Copy URL places the proposed URL on your clipboard when you click that button. You control any subsequent sharing of exported files or clipboard contents.
Retention and deletion
Local scan progress remains until you start another scan, clear the workspace, or remove the extension. Saved audits remain until you delete them or remove the extension. Clear workspace removes the current scan and comparison baseline; Delete removes a saved audit and clears the workspace if that audit is currently open. To remove all audit data, delete the saved audits and clear the workspace, or uninstall the extension. Exported CSV files and copied clipboard contents must be removed separately using your device's controls.
You can revoke granted website access in Chrome's extension settings. Scanning runs while the scanner tab is open; closing it stops network work. Stored progress can be resumed later by clicking Resume saved scan.
Limited use
Link Scanner uses website information only to provide the audit and verification features described here. Its use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Contact and changes
For privacy questions, use the developer contact email displayed on Link Scanner's Chrome Web Store listing. Changes to data handling will be reflected in an updated policy and extension release.
